Reluctantly, we are cancelling Santa's Enginehouse.
Starting December 3, a new framework for Covid-19 restrictions in Oregon based on infection rates took effect. Multnomah County, and many other counties, are categorized as at Extreme Risk for covid spread. Among many restrictions, museums cannot open. For the past month, the number of new cases in our county has far exceeded the threshold for Extreme Risk. With the continuing spike in new cases, it is nearly impossible for the numbers to fall low enough, and fast enough, to allow Santa’s Enginehouse to open this season.
We are sorry for the inconvenience to all who have purchased tickets. Your payment is fully refundable. Or if you’re feeling especially generous this holiday season, you have the option to donate the value of your tickets to help support Oregon Rail Heritage Center. Please email info@orhf.org with your preference. Even if you don’t itemize, your donation may be deductible on your 2020 federal tax return, thanks to a provision of the CARES act. Learn more at https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/how-the-cares-act-changes-deducting-charitable-contributions.
We will keep the new additions to the Enginehouse for museum visitors to enjoy when the virus has begun to retreat and we can reopen. Look for information on our website and Facebook page as that time nears. We hope to see you then!
In the meantime, the December issue of our e-newsletter, Around the Enginehouse, will feature photos and links to videos showing all the features of Santa’s Enginehouse. If you aren’t on our distribution list for this newsletter, we would be delighted to add you – you can sign up at the bottom of this page.
We thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you soon. We wish you happiness and good health this holiday season!
Cheers,
The ORHF Events Committee
